CataTonic
-
CataTonic is an isometric adventure game where you play as Hubert, a clever cat trapped in a surreal dream world. Armed with his magical saxophone and an undying love for jazz, Hubert uses the power of music to overcome his foes and navigate through the bizarre and enchanting dreamscape. His ultimate goal is to escape the dream and reunite with his beloved owner.
My Roles
As a gameplay programmer on CataTonic, I focused on several critical aspects of the game, including music combat, health pickups, and enemy spawning systems:

Programmer
Music Combat System: I developed the mechanics that allow Hubert to use his magical saxophone as a weapon. This involved designing and implementing the musical attacks, witch integrate with the game's jazz soundtrack, making combat both engaging and harmonious.
Health Pickups: I created and balanced the health pickup system, ensuring that players can recover health at strategic points throughout the game. This involved placing pickups in the game world and programming their interactions with the player to maintain a fair and enjoyable gameplay experience
Enemy Spawner: I designed and implemented the enemy spawning system, which controls the appearance and behavior of enemies within the dream world. This system ensures that enemies appear in a challenging yet manageable way, contributing to the game's pacing and difficulty.
